The Winter Break Externship Program is designed to give UCF students the opportunity to explore a specific career field while networking with professionals within the community.
2. WHAT ARE THE STUDENTS' EXPECTATIONS?
To gain experience and knowledge through actual hands-on experiences and/or by simply observing the host employer(s) facilitate meetings, training sessions, etc.
3. HOW MANY HOURS WILL THE STUDENT BE EXPECTED TO WORK?
The duration of the winter externship will depend upon the availability of the host employer as well as that of the student. We strongly recommend that student participants commit to working between 8 to 40 hours during their externship experience.
. 4. WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS WILL THE STUDENT BRING TO THE EXTERNSHIP?
The Externship Program is open to all undergraduate students attending the University of Central Florida. Therefore, applicants may include freshmen with little or no work experience that are eager to explore various career fields, to upperclassmen with a wealth of experience.
5. WILL I BE OBLIGATED TO PAY A STUDENT FOR HIS/HER EXTERNSHIP?
No, this is a non-paid/non-academic credit externship.
6. HOW ARE SCHEDULES COORDINATED FOR THE EXTERNSHIP?
After a student is accepted for an externship he/she is responsible for contacting the host employer to establish the length of the spring externship and discuss the company's policies and procedures.
7. HOW MANY EXTERNS CAN I ACCEPT?
1-3 students
